After I had decided that plot line to my film and what genre it would be, I decided to think about who my target audience would be. I felt that my target audience would be of an older generation as this could be quite a sensitive or alarming topic for people of a younger generation. However, it may appeal to the younger generation as it is a drama. My film would appeal to both a male and female generation and it's is not specifically aimed at a gender.
I feel that the ideal target audience would be a female between the ages of 20 and 40. I think that this would be an appropriate target audience as films about children and family generally attract more attention from female's and mothers as they can relate to them and are most likely to feel more emotions about stories surrounding children.
I thought about the Psychographics of my target audience. "Psychographics is the study of personality, values, opinions, attitudes, interests, and lifestyles." - Wikipedia, 16/10/15. There are different categories that people will fit into for example, the are the Aspirers. These are the people who will seek status and care about materialistic things, generally the younger generation. Then there are the Succeeders, these are the people who seek control and have strong goals. These people are typically high in their profession. Another category is the Resigned who seek survival, typically the older generation. Explorers seek discovery and adventure, generally the students. Strugglers are people who seek to escape. They are alienated and disorganised. The last category is the Reformers, they seek enlightenment and personal growth. This is the category that I think will fit my target audience most. I think that this category will be interested in learning what my topic is and learning new things about it.
